HONOR OUR MILITARAY WHO HAVE GIVEN SO MUCH
MAY 30, 2011

Memorial Day is on Monday, May 30,2011.  It is a day reserved for far more than just picnics and parties. It is a day that has been set aside to honor Americans who have died in all wars fighting to preserve freedom.  Please take the time to pay tribute to those who have sacrificed so that we can be free.  The Memorial Day remembrance begins at 10:00 am at the War Monument located in the station.  We will travel to the monuments located at St. Martins Cemetary, Chartiers Avenue in Elliott, the West End and Steuben Street monuments and end at the monument in Hollywood Cemetary.  Wreaths will be laid and a 21 gun salute at all monuments in honor of those brave men and women who sacrificed their lives.  This will be followed by lunch at the American Legion. Everyone is welcome.

Summer is right around the corner!  Lots of things going on in our neighborhood.  Our community gardens are planted and look beautiful!  Thank you to all who spent their time and energy to beautify our neighborhood!  A special thank you to Lamar Advertising for their generous donation of plants and flower and all the other things needed to make our garden look so incredible!

The City of Pittsburgh is, once again, sponsering a summer youth employment program.  Working helps young people to develop skills needed in life, such as money management, responsibility and people skills, as well as being an opportunity to begin building a resume.
